Sunny Williams, the founder of House of Sunny, chose to prioritize the London-based label’s core values into sustainability. Having launched in 2011, the label has grown immensely, clothing celebrities from Bella Hadid to Kendall Jenner.

Whilst being an independent womenswear label that draws on vintage 70s-inspired collections, House of Sunny exemplifies a future-proofed and forward-thinking mindset. Sustainability has become an intrinsic feature to many companies however, House of Sunny has stepped beyond the norm.

House of Sunny pride themselves over six main elements; animal welfare, recycled materials, denim, print placement, carbon footprint and their overall ethics.

First, concerning animal welfare, all products are vegan which means no leather, down, feathers, exotic skins, mohair, mulesing, wool or angora are used. Second, since their most recent collection VOL.15, all garment bags are 100% compostable bio-based films ensuring the recyclable aspect.

For denim, traditional methods would use 8000 LT per 100 garments but with new e-flow technology, House of Sunny has cut their water consumption by 90 percent to only 800 LT per 100 garments of water.

The fourth element stems from using repeat prints; by working with anti-wastage prints, Sunny can eliminate fabric waste by 40 percent. Ultimately, these four elements collectively aim towards maintaining the last two elements; carbon footprint and ethics sharing the “common vision of sustainability, accountability and transparency.”

House of Sunny only releases two seasonal collections a year. By acting against fast fashion, the slower pace ensures small and precise edits for customers but also maintains their environmental conscious the limited and controlled production avoids waste.

House of Sunny’s passion for the innovative craft of fashion clearly radiates an eco-friendly ethos, and despite their expanding customer base, sustainability has never been sacrificed when proceeding with their fashion heritage.
