After 10 years of working in the fashion industry, designers and best friends Phyllis Chan and Suzzie Chung launched YanYan, a direct-to-consumer sustainable knitwear label based in Hong Kong.
Since YanYan’s inception, Chan and Chung have continuously found innovative and fresh ways of mixing deadstock fabrics and turning them into something entirely new. The duo is known to reuse lush lambswool and Italian-spin tweed yards to brightly-coloured technical polyesters from Japan. All the materials are chlorine-safe and completely machine washable.
Staying true to their name YanYan, which means ‘everyone’ in Cantonese, the label makes sure to think about everyone from sourcing, to designing to creating and their customers.
This is also why the label’s offering arrives in a vibrant colour palette featuring bold orange, bright yellow, warm red, vibrant purple, earthly green, and calming blue to suit every fashionista’s needs. More neutral tones of grey, beige, cream, white, and black are also featured on the delicate items.
YanYan’s specialty knits include the perfect blend of bold details like neon stitching and piping, along with the introduction of space-dyed fabrics taking the shape of button-downs, midi dresses, and skirts. In addition, the range includes a small selection of handbags, both designed using leftover fabrics from previous seasons as a way to avoid waste and to continue the legacy of the brand’s past collections.
