Beloved fashion house Acne Studios is committing to sustainability, having just launched its new “Repurposed” series, which will include numerous collections and releases. All the items made for Acne Studios’s new series will be created using excess fabrics and materials from its previous seasonal collections.

Each drop will feature different, eco-friendly design solutions and treatments from deconstructing garments to cutting new pieces from unused textiles or patching prints together; everything from leftover buttons to trimmings will be used.

Acne Studios’s first “Repurposed” release will kick off with a lineup filled with women’s essentials. The modest seven-piece range consists of suiting, outerwear, and shirting, and also includes a casual graphic T-shirt. Each eye-catching essential item features recurring contrasting materials such as tweed, denim, and leather, which have been patched together and embellished with silver industrial zippers.

Standout looks from the chic and eco-conscious collection include the fitted tweed blazer elevated with brown tailored wool on the right sleeve, the workwear-inspired jacket with denim sleeves that easily detach, and the perfectly panelled trousers and jeans with zipper detailing.

Elsewhere the range is completed with a staple mini skirt with a removable zippered front made from tweed, a white button-down with black and burgundy viscose sleeves, and finally, the T-shirt sporting “repurposed” made of tweed and wool houndstooth scraps applied to the front.

Acne Studios promises to remain true to the series’ overarching philosophy, with each upcoming capsule to offer a new perspective from the brand. The fashion house will source excess fabrics from its regional manufacturers to help generate the upcoming collections and will spotlight the label’s new fabric treatments as the brand focuses on specific materials. All ranges will also be produced in their local factory to minimize transport.

On the new initiative, Jonny Johansson, Acne Studios’ creative director, shared, “This new series is about finding creative ways to be more resourceful.” He continued by explaining its connection with the label’s heritage. “Acne Studios was founded on design experimentation, and today we went to use our creativity to take positive steps towards becoming more mindful.”

Acne Studios’ “Repurposed” women’s capsule collection is currently available in-store and online.
