Danish fashion brand GANNI recently launched a new season collection made entirely out of upcycled and reprocessed materials from the GANNI archives.
For the new collection of just 22 styles, which is meant to transition the consumer from summer to fall, the brand decided on reworking unused rolls of fabrics and unsold garments from past collections into completely new items.
Dubbed the Re-Cut collection, it sees past styles getting a new life in the form of patchwork dresses, babydoll dresses, quilted jackets, wavy-hemmed skirts, and tank top sweaters.
GANNI’s creative director, Ditte Reffstrup, stated that to bring the Re-Cut collection to life, she rummaged through their archives looking for contrasting prints and unique fabrics. In the end, Reffstrup likened the new collection to “meeting an old friend.” While the pieces are all brand new, the collection incorporates signature GANNI prints and patterns, such as plaid and leopard print.
The Re-Cut collection was conceived during the COVID-19 lockdown, in an effort to create new pieces without producing new fabric. The Copenhagen-based brand certainly achieved just that.
GANNI’s Re-Cut capsule collection is available now on their website.
