Danish fashion brand GANNI recently announced a collaboration with London-based designer Priya Ahluwalia and her namesake label, Ahluwalia.
Together, they have created an upcycled collection of ready-to-wear pieces. The collaboration also marks Ahluwalia’s first-ever womenswear collection.
The 19-piece collection flawlessly blends Ahluwalia’s Indian-Nigerian heritage and London home with the Scandi vibe GANNI is known for.
In true GANNI style, all pieces were designed with circularity in mind which is why the collection uses a mix of the brand’s deadstock fabrics and leftover styles that failed to sell during the 2020 lockdown.
Ahluwalia worked closely with GANNI’s creative director, Ditte Reffstrup, to combine GANNI’s iconic silhouettes with her brand’s signature ‘90s touch. The result was a mix of dresses, jumpsuits, jackets, two-piece sets, and shirts, many of which feature a patchwork design.
Ahluwalia says that she took inspiration from the UK garage scene, along with her own personal history and culture. Ultimately, she sought to create clothing that was not only eco-friendly, but that women would feel sexy in, whether they’re lounging at home or dancing in a club.
The GANNI x Ahluwalia collection is now available on GANNI’s website and in-store.
