EO is a family-run company founded by Susan Griffin-Black and Brad Black that aims to create a line of essential oils available to all. Recently commended by The New York Times for their ability to build the company while undergoing a divorce, the couple has worked to run the company together for 25 years and created a range of products from hair and skincare to bath soaps and hand sanitizers.
As a company focused on sustainable manufacturing and spreading kindness, all EO products are created, promoted and shipped from one family-owned, waste-free factory. Additionally, EO donates personal care products and gives regularly to local organizations that generate job opportunities and provide paid time off for employees in order for them to volunteer.
“What’s in the bottle? Devotion,” reads EO’s website. “We’ve been inspired to share our passion for nature’s pure essential oils. To blend their evocative scents with safe, natural, effective ingredients. And to live and work wholeheartedly, in a way that honors the well-being of all people and the planet we all share.”
Well known for their soaps and hand sanitizers, EO has received unparalleled volumes of orders in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the company has continued to support its customers by providing pre-sale options, stocking new inventory weekly, and ramping up hand sanitizer production. Preorders are typically fulfilled within two to four weeks and customers are able to sign up by going to the product page and signing up for updates.
EO’s hand sanitizer sprays are sold in packs of six and 12 and come in three scents: french lavender, peppermint, and sweet orange. The spray can also be purchased as a single in the “Better Together” set which includes one french lavender hand sanitizer spray and an EO-exclusive mask. With 62% alcohol content obtained from non-GMO sugar cane, the spray is 99.9 percent effective against germs. For every “Better Together” set purchased, EO donates one bottle of hand sanitizer to a frontline worker.
As always, EO’s packaging is monochromatic and elegant, in line with the company’s value of sustainability. EO also maintains its mission to keep in-demand products more widely accessible products by imposing a one or two hand-sanitizing product limit per customer.
