Audi at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show has unveiled an all-electric SUV concept called Q4 e-tron.

Featuring two electric motors with 225 kW of system power, the Q4 e-tron concept is capable of achieving an acceleration time of zero to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds with a max speed of 180 km/h. Fitted with a battery capacity of 82-kilowatt hours, a range of 450 km is possible.

“The modular electrification platform (MEB) offers a broad range of drive variants and power levels,” said Audi in a press release. “The front and rear axles are each powered by an electric motor – the Q4 is a quattro. There is no mechanical connection between the axles. Instead, an electronic control ensures that the torque distribution is coordinated optimally, and it does so in fractions of a second. That enables the electric SUV to achieve optimum traction in all weather conditions and on any type of surface.”

Measuring 4.59 metres long, 1.90 metres wide and 1.61 metres tall, Audi has described the Q4 e-tron concept as being an “agile all-rounder that is suitable for city driving”.

The shade of colour called Solar Sky is utilized for the exterior. Made under environmentally friendly conditions, the paint is able to effectively reflect the short-wave fractions of sunlight near the infrared spectrum to reduce build-ups of heat.

“This benefits the subjective well-being of the occupants while at the same time reducing the energy input required for the air conditioning, which is then not needed as much to cool the vehicle interior on warm days,” explained Audi. “This, in turn, improves the range and the global carbon footprint of the Q4 e-tron concept.”

With dark floors made of recycled materials and an upper cabin comprised of light and grey colours, the interior is spacious and modern with a minimalistic and precise aesthetic.

Displaying elements such as speed, charge level and navigation on the virtual cockpit, graphical information can be displayed on the large-format head-up display using an augmented reality function.
