In addition to creating clean formulas, skincare brand EADEM is doing away tokenism in the beauty industry.
With EADEM, founders Marie Kouadio and Alice Lin sought out to create safe and effective products that specifically addressed skin concerns experienced by people of colour. One such skin concern? Hyperpigmentation.
Kouadio says certain actives and ingredients in skincare products react differently depending on how much melanin is in the skin. Although this is something that has long been known, not enough existing beauty companies actually take it into account.
The result being that women of colour end up with higher levels of beauty-related environmental chemicals in their body than Caucasian women.
To right this wrong, EADEM was born. And just recently, they launched their very first product: the Milk Marvel Dark Spot Serum.
This product is hailed as a three-in-one gel serum that fades excess pigmentation, refines and resurfaces the skin, and minimizes the appearance of pores. In essence, it provides users with a glowing complexion while simultaneously targeting a common skin concern among people of colour.
Further, EADEM’s inaugural product is powered by the brand’s trademark Smart Melanin Technology, which is a unique combination of niacinamide, amber algae, and encapsulated vitamin C.
It is also 100% vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, non-clogging, and it is free from bleaching agents and hydroquinone.
