Kotn is a Toronto-based company known for its commitment to eco-conscious and ethical clothing. In 2020, the brand expanded its offerings by introducing the Home collection. As one might tell by their name, Kotn primarily uses cotton for its products.
They specifically source their cotton from the Better Cotton Initiative and small-family-run farms in Egypt, as stated on their website. Before starting Kotn, one of the co-founders, Rami Helali, lived in a cotton-farming community for six months while visiting and reconnecting with his roots in Egypt.
The Home collection offers comfort and style. Their sheets and bedding are made of Egyptian cotton with a 400-thread count. Sleek, simple designs, Kotn’s Home collection includes pillows, blankets, ceramics, baskets, slippers, and more. In addition, they offer clean looks like white, cream sheets, and more bold looks like navy or stripes.
Additionally, their pillows and rugs come in unique patterning. The company also offers a Bedding 101 guide, answering questions about cotton and bedding for beginner shoppers.
According to their site, Egyptian cotton is the gold standard for sheets. Kotn’s sheets are more durable and make a good bedding investment. Kotn also notes that Egyptian cotton is easier to care for and that they only use 100% extra-long-staple cotton grown in Egypt for their sheets.
When it comes to sustainability, there is a primary focus on clothing. And although sustainable and accessible clothing is essential, we tend to neglect other materials in our space. Home decor, bedding, blankets, and so on are also integral to our lives. However, it is rare to see stores prioritize sustainable homeware and specialize in multiple eco-friendly projects. Kotn’s Home collection is a testament to its versatility, commitment to ethically made products, and overall creativity.
