Studio 7.5 in collaboration with XtreeE have created a series of 3D printed concrete benches with a woven pattern.

Utilizing XtreeE’s six-axis 3D printing robot that can print with either concrete and or clay, the outdoor benches were created by continuously printing concrete layers in an oscillating wave.

“A texture that is not only visually reminiscent to woven textiles, it also follows the same production routine: a continuous thread that is guided along a path in order to create a construction,” said Studio 7.5. “What we call texture is actually the construction principle. The height and frequency of the continuous sinus waved printing path varies in order to provide optimal stability.”

3D printed in a woven pattern for its “aesthetic value and its structural performance”, the benches also weigh less and have a lower carbon footprint in comparison to a solid concrete bench.
