There’s a new sustainable beauty brand in town that is also inclusive. Founded by Diarrha N’Diaye, Ami Colé is all about clean makeup designed specifically for people with melanin-rich skin.
After working for companies such as Sephora and Glossier, N’Diaye, who is Senegalese American, felt that a true celebration of black beauty was lacking in the industry. That is what led her to found Ami Colé.
The brand was also named after N’Diaye’s mother, who immigrated from Senegal to the United States in the ‘80s and ran a beauty salon in Harlem.
Offering consumers a “no makeup” makeup look, Ami Colé’s first line comprises three products: a Skin-Enhancing Tint meant to reveal, not conceal (it’s available in six shades), a translucent Light-Catching Highlighter intended to work for all skin tones, and a Lip Treatment Oil in a sheer, rosy taupe.
All makeup by Ami Colé is vegan, cruelty-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, and fragrance-free. To bring these products to life, N’Diaye utilized natural, plant-based ingredients like baobab seed extract, camellia seed oil, hibiscus extract, passion fruit seed oil, and pumpkin seed extract.
Even better, Ami Colé’s products are housed in recyclable, reusable, or compostable packaging.
