Looking for an eco-friendly and fashionable bag? Then QWSTION’s bags will a-“peel” to you because they are made from bananas!

QWSTION uses banana fibres from the Abacá plant to make its patented material, Bananatex. It took a few years for QWSTION, the Switzerland-based company, to refine its method for making Bananatex. This is because they wanted to create a completely sustainable fabric that was durable, waterproof and biodegradable. What good is a sustainable bag, after all, if you have to throw it away after a year of use.

High cotton canvas and leather also compose QWSTION’s bags. The leather uses a vegetable tanning method that is more eco-friendy than traditional leather tanning methods. For colour, the bags are dyed using a yarn dyeing method that is a sustainable alternative to traditional roll dyeing.

The design of the bags is minimalist, and sleek. The minimalist aesthetic makes them perfect for work, school, or travel. They come in a variety of styles, sizes, and colors, so you can customize them based on your preferences and needs.

Not only are the bags sustainable, but they are also ethical in its manufacturing. They are monitored by the Business and Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), which makes sure European manufacturing standards are used in companies outside Europe since many of the bags are made in China.

QWSTION currently sells three bags that use Bananatex, the Hip Pouch ($80 USD), Zip Pack ($310 USD), and Roll Pack ($340 USD). The Hip Pouch is a small bag that is perfect for carrying around essentials. The Zip Pack is medium-sized, has enough room to comfortably carry around all of your everyday essentials, and can convert from a tote into a square backpack. The Roll Pack is a versatile container that has numerous expandable interior compartments, a laptop sleeve, adjustable straps, and a flexible roll-top closure.
