Known for its sustainable practices and timeless designs, Australian-born rug brand Armadillo has teamed up with London-based design studio House of Grey for a minimalist range of rugs dubbed “Ellipse.”
With an aim at bringing the tranquility of the outdoors into your home, each rug in the collection is inspired by nature and is meticulously hand-knotted from carefully sourced natural fibres, premium jute, New Zealand wool, and pure silk. Additionally, each rug is designed to be treasured forever, and thus combating “throwaway culture.”
The House of Grey x Armadillo “Ellipse” range comprises five styles, each arriving in Earth-inspired hues and natural texture combinations. To arrive at each color, the rugs were either left in their original shade, hand-dyed, or sun-dried for added texture and depth.
Perilune is reminiscent of the crescent moon; Palus is a textured finish similar to smooth rock and gravel; Umbra is Tibetan-knotted from undyed Afghan wool; Terra is an earthly everyday rug and takes on the look of mounds of grass and soil; finally, Etoile features a smooth gradation of textures like soft slopes of sand.
Because of the natural variations in texture and tone, each rug is completely one-of-a-kind. The House of Grey x Armadillo “Ellipse” collection is now available online. 10% of the proceeds from each sale will go towards the Armadillo Foundation, a nonprofit that aid environmental, educational, and healthcare initiatives for the communities involved in each rug’s production.
