American Eagle Outfitters-owned women’s clothing and intimate brand Aerie has teamed up with inclusive underwear brand Liberare to create a line of adaptive lingerie for those with disabilities.
Emma Butler, the founder and CEO of Liberare, says her inspiration to create the brand came from her mother who was diagnosed with a chronic illness, as well as from meeting others with diseases and disabilities while in university. Understanding the difficulty faced by those with disabilities and chronic illnesses, Butler decided to combine her passion for apparel design with compassion and care, and that is how Liberare came to be.
“With Aerie and Liberare coming together, we are fueling the fire of the inclusion revolution … disabled people are beautiful, fashionable and worthy of radical self-acceptance,” says Butler. “Of course, the disabled community already knows this. With our two brands coming together, we’re here to show the fashion industry what it really means to be truly REAL.”
The Aerie X Liberare collection is comprised of the Liberare Bra, Liberare Cheeky Undie, Liberare Bikini Undie, and Liberare Convertible Plunge Bralette. All of the pieces are designed in a way so that they can be easily worn and taken off.
The Aerie X Liberare collection is available on Aerie’s website.
