Preserving the Past, Embracing the Future:

In collaboration with Plantea Estudio architects, VEJA has breathed new life into an existing building on Calle del Barquillo. By meticulously preserving the building’s charm while incorporating minimalist and contemporary design elements, the store seamlessly blends into the artistic and trendy neighbourhood of Justicia. Raw materials like wood, bricks, and concrete harmoniously coexist, creating an industrial yet inviting ambiance that is perfectly in sync with VEJA’s brand identity.

Art Meets Sustainability:

To infuse the store with a touch of modern art, VEJA collaborated with Brazilian artist Kleber Matheus to create custom-made neon art pieces. These art installations add a vibrant and dynamic element to the space, setting the tone for a unique and engaging shopping experience. The combination of vintage-style furniture sourced from local antique dealers and modern art creates an artistic juxtaposition that captivates visitors and fosters a strong sense of identity.

More Than Just a Store:

The VEJA store in Madrid transcends the typical retail experience. It is not merely a place to buy shoes but a community hub where inspiring projects and people converge. With a designated space for hosting events, the store becomes a platform for local initiatives, sustainable efforts, and creative collaborations. VEJA’s commitment to fostering connections and inspiring positive change in Madrid’s community aligns perfectly with the ethos of the Justicia neighbourhood.

Sustainability at the Core:

VEJA has long been recognized as a pioneer in the sustainable fashion movement, and their Madrid store is no exception. The power source for the store comes from Eni Plenitude, a supplier of renewable energy, further reinforcing VEJA’s dedication to minimizing its environmental impact. By choosing renewable energy, VEJA is setting a shining example for other brands to follow, demonstrating that sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into every aspect of business operations.

Repair Project for All:

One of the standout features of the VEJA store in Madrid is the inclusion of a cobbler place, extending the brand’s ongoing repair project that started in Bordeaux in 2020. This initiative allows customers, irrespective of the brand of their shoes, to have their sneakers and shoes cleaned and repaired. Emphasizing the importance of responsible consumption and longevity, VEJA encourages its patrons to cherish their footwear and contribute to reducing fashion waste.
