The electric bicycle industry is one that is predicted to rake in sales of 130 million between 2020 and 2023. Triumph is the latest company to delve into this branch of sustainable travel. Recently introduced, the Trekker GT is Triumph’s very first electric bicycle.

Starting out as a bicycle manufacturer in 1884, Triumph transitioned into making motorcycles in 1902. Today, the company produces 65,000 motorcycles a year and has 600 dealerships worldwide. This year, Triumph even designed and created two exclusive motorcycles for the 25th James Bond film No Time to Die.

The average electric bicycle battery will power up to 32 to 56 km (20 to 35 miles). The Trekker GT, featuring a Shimano Steps E6100 250w motor and Shimano E8035 504Wh battery, allows for 150 km (93 miles) per charge with a 60Nm torque.

The Trekker GT boasts a hydro-formed 9061 aluminum alloy frame with a Selle Royal Vivo Havac Tech saddle. Triumph claims this provides optimal ergonomics.

The bicycle also features an information screen on the narrow width handlebars, displaying speed, distance, trip time, gears, estimated range, and battery indication – to name a few.

Priced from £2,950, the Trekker GT sports the latest in electric bicycle technology, with comfort and quality that comes from over 130 years of bicycle and motorcycle production. LED lighting, blacked-out pannier rack, and matt black mudguards, to match the matt jet black and matt silver ice paint scheme, are a few of the items included in the price as standard.

Available to purchase across the UK, US and most of Europe, it is curious as to why Triumph’s latest creation is not available for purchase in Germany or Austria. Especially since, in 2018, electric bicycle sales rose 36 percent in Germany, according to Deloitte.
