Footwear brand TOMS is continuing its sustainability journey with the release of Mallow, an all-new slip-on shoe.
The Mallow is a new and improved version of TOMS’ iconic Alpargata style. It is described as bigger, bolder, and “seriously plush,” featuring oversized soles and sidewalls three times as large as the original style.
Like with all TOMS footwear, this new style is eco-friendly. To create their supersized, puffy outsole, the brand used rubber and EVA, a combination known for its grip and stability. Meanwhile, for the insole, TOMS used their patented OrthoLite ECO LT Hybrid foam insole.
This unique insole provides lightweight cushioning and is made of plant-based and recycled materials. Specifically, each Mallow’s OrthoLite Eco LT Hybrid insole is made of 26% eco content, which can be broken down into 15% waste foam, 5% recycled content, and 6% bio-oils. Plus, the Alpargata Mallow insole is removable and can be washed by hand.
TOMS’ Mallow is currently available with prices ranging from $70 to $80 CAD. There are six colourways in total: Blue, Grey, Black, White, Beige (a cheetah print), and Natural (a tiger print).
