Tata Harper, the founder of Tata Harper Skincare, was noted by Forbes in 2018 as one of four, “Female Entrepreneurs Shaking Up The Beauty Industry”. As a natural and non-toxic beauty brand that offers results, the company has won many awards over the years, such as the Allure, “Best of Beauty Award,” in 2014 and 2016. This year, the clean skincare brand received the Byrdie, “2020 Eco Beauty Award,” for farming their own ingredients.

Columbian born, Tata Harper relocated to Vermont with her husband and co-founder, Henry Harper, to raise their children. Soon after, Tata’s stepfather was diagnosed with cancer, and the process of rebuilding his health lead the Harpers to learn about the importance of non-toxic products:

“Tata and Henry worked together to help him change his lifestyle following his diagnosis. In doing so, they learned that many toxic and harmful ingredients were lurking in their everyday products – even those that were luxury and claimed to be all natural,” reads Tata Harper Skincare’s website. “The two struck out on a journey to solve this problem and spent 5 years to research and develop what would become the very first Tata Harper product, one that delivered efficacious results and a luxury experience without having to compromise your health.”

Since then, Tata Harper Skincare has been a pioneer in farm-to-face skincare. Founded in 2010 on a 1,200-acre organic farm in Vermont, the company invents, farms, formulates, and manufactures everything themselves. Tata Harper hand selects other high-quality ingredients from around the world depending on their unique benefits to the skin.

In 2014 they launched a traceability program that allows customers to see who batched their product and when it was crafted. They promise fresh skincare by etching the batch number on the bottom of a product before shipping it off. After you receive your product, you can enter the batch number on their website to see the exact date it was made, and a photo of who it was made by.

“Our open lab and traceability program is all about the how, the who, and the why behind our products. To me at least, when it comes to skin care that I’m putting on my face every day, the fewer the mysteries the better. It’s a celebration of craftsmanship and defining quality, and what I love the most about it is that it really offers a complete skincare routine,” said Tata Harper.

Sustainability is important to Tata Harper. Their products are housed in glass and, where possible, the plastic resin for their tubes is made from sugar cane instead of petroleum. They use 100% recycled cardboard cartons that come from an ethical source, and soy-based ink to improve the paper’s recycling capabilities.

Uniquely transparent, Tata Harper also provides a glossary for customers to better understand the ingredients. They describe the ingredients, source, function, and process. Whether it be steam distilled chamomile, or cold-pressed Argan Kernel, every single item is shared.

“We pack the most ingredients at the highest levels of concentration to deliver maximum results—without a single drop of artificial chemicals,” explained Tata Harper Skincare. “Our products are made for those who expect the best and want the most results from their skincare. Our non-toxic products will never make you choose between health and results or between natural and high-performance. You shouldn’t have to compromise your ideals when it comes to beauty. That’s why every product we make is formulated without compromise. Period.”
