Noted as being the “sustainable alternative to plastic”, Sulapac is a 100% biodegradable, microplastic-free and mass producible material that is made from renewable sources and FSC-certified wood.
Developed by biochemists Suvi Haimi and Laura Kyllönen, the duo state that they created Sulapac as a means to resolve the ever-increasing issue of single-use plastics.
Designed for a variety of applications and featuring properties such as it being water, oil and oxygen resistant, Sulapac can be utilized for packaging, utensils, coat hangers, straws, and more. Different recipes are applied for specific product requirements.
Manufacturers that are producing plastic items by injection moulding or extrusion are said to be able to easily adopt Sulapac into their existing production lines with “minimal investment”.
