Luxury handbag brand Strathberry has released a new collection called Nordic Spring, and it features bags made of Nordic fish leather, salmon skin to be specific.

Although being made from animals, the Scottish label says that their Nordic Spring bags are eco-friendly. How you may ask?

First, the leather was sourced from sustainably accredited fisheries in Iceland. Second, salmon skin is an extremely durable alternative to cow leather, ensuring the bags are long-lasting. Plus, the salmon skin was produced using only renewable energy.

Finally, Strathberry says that salmon skin is a by-product of the fishing industry, one that would otherwise end up in a landfill, but instead, they chose to transform the high-quality raw material into unique luxury pieces.

The limited-edition capsule collection consists of Strathberry’s signature East/West Mini style reworked to incorporate this pioneering new material. The Nordic Spring East/West Mini is available in three colourways: marine blue, pink raspberry, and forest green.

In addition, all Strathberry packaging, from the boxes to the tissue paper to the thank you notes, is fully recyclable.

Strathberry’s Nordic Spring collection is available now on the brand’s website, with handbags retailing for $870 CAD.
