For Spring 2023, fashion brand Stella McCartney has achieved its most sustainable collection ever by using 85% conscious materials.
The S23 collection is inspired by the works of British natural scientist Miriam Rothschild and a 3,500-acre estate in West Sussex called Knepp that was formally farmland but converted back into a wildland ecosystem.
Working with an ecologist, McCartney is currently rewilding her own countryside farm. The native flora and fauna found on McCartney’s land are combined with the sense of blissful childhood to realize a colourful and playful collection.
“Captured dichotomously in both natural and industrial settings, a mood-lifting palette blooming with sunflower yellow, rose pink, poppy red and lime green defines the season’s optimistic offering,” says McCartney.
Materials used in the collection include recycled polyester, plant-based denim, vegan grape-based leather, wood-based viscose, and more.
