Short Film ‘Hyper-Reality’ Envisions a Future of Saturated Technology and Media

Attempting to explore a future where technology has intertwined itself with every aspect of life, the film Hyper-Reality by Keiichi Matsuda depicts a kaleidoscopic, dizzying and provocative vision where the physical and virtual realities have merged together to create an environment saturated with media and enveloped in tech. 

“Technologies such as VR, augmented reality, wearables, and the internet of things are pointing to a world where technology will envelop every aspect of our lives,” said Matsuda. “It will be the glue between every interaction and experience, offering amazing possibilities, while also controlling the way we understand the world.”

Shot on site in Medellín, Colombia, a developing city known for its beauty, violent history and innovativeness, Matsuda has stated that the main reason he wanted to shoot the film in Medellín was to fulfil his interest in witnessing how rapid technological transformation would impact and affect the culture.
