Reflecting back on its place of origin, Swiss footwear and apparel company On has created a fully self-sufficient cabin located 2,500 metres up in the Swiss Alps.
Only accessible by foot, the cabin called On Mountain Hut is situated alongside a watershed between the Piz Lunghin mountain and Lunghin pass.
“On was born in the Swiss Alps. For us, the mountains are a source of energy, ideas and innovation,” said On. “They have the power to invigorate and provide fresh perspective. The On Mountain Hut was built as a tribute to the remarkable landscape and to share the source of our inspiration with the world. Combining our love of mountains with our love of design, it fuses tradition with innovation.”
In “keeping with the alpine setting”, the cabin’s exterior is clad in a corrugated reflective element. With solar panels fitted on the roof for energy, the cabin’s roof fixture collects and filters rainwater for use.
Featuring large windows for a gorgeous view of the landscape and watershed, the cabin is furnished with a wood-burning stove, table and bench.
The ladder leads to a bed on a mezzanine.
“Created from scratch with an entirely minimalist ethos, it features all the facilities you need and nothing you don’t,” said On. “We want this hut to be the perfect place to enjoy the Alps in all their glory; to switch off and reset away from the hustle and bustle of daily life; to go back to your source.”
