Known for comfortable and stylish flats and loafers, along with the commitment to female empowerment and sustainability, women’s apparel brand Rothy’s has released its first-ever lace-up sneaker. The new eco-friendly sneaker is made from recycled plastic bottles, bio-based TPU plastic and algae foam.

Maximum comfort and minimal waste are the features central to the design for the new lace-up sneakers. They feature a cushiony collar around the ankle for support. The collar is knit as a small pocket filled with excess material, thereby minimizing waste and providing extra comfort.

The sneaker also boasts a contoured and slip-out footbed that adds support and makes washing them even easier. The terry-lined tongue supplies the shoe with a sock-like fit and is easily adjustable. The lace-up sneakers come in a neutral colour pallet. Options include a sleek bright white, a delicate lilac shade, and a rich navy. They retail for $165 USD or $225 CAD and are built to last, making them a fantastic choice for a new favourite everyday wear.

The brand has previously created eco-friendly bags made from their signature thread, which is sourced from recycled plastic water bottles. Additionally, they ship all their products in boxes sourced from 100% recycled materials and cut out all unnecessary packaging. And as an added bonus, all of Rothy’s footwear and bags are machine washable.

Rothy’s manufactures its products in a factory located in Dongguan, China. The factory consistently works towards zero-waste production and employs an innovative process combining 3D-knitting technology with handcrafted assembly.
