The latest sportswear giant to dive headfirst into the vegan territory is Reebok. The German subsidiary of adidas has teamed up with UK-based sustainable apparel and accessories label STORY mfg. on an eco-friendly footwear range inspired by the great outdoors.

The collection comprises two of Reebok’s classic silhouettes: the Club C and Beatnik sandal. Keeping in line with the ethos of STORY mfg., vegan-friendly and cruelty-free materials are used.

Since the linen upper has not been dyed or coloured, natural wheat and brown hues come through. Even the midsole has been left undyed, creating a creamy translucent effect.

Emblazoned on each pair’s linen blend uppers are contrasting blue peace sign insignias on the lateral walls, a signature symbol of STORY mfg. The STORY mfg. x Reebok Club C additionally features linen laces and tongue tabs etched with “Forage for wisdom with Story mfg.” on the front and co-branding on the back.

Sticking to the outdoors theme, the STORY mfg. x Reebok Beatnik features a quilted upper, almost reminiscent of a camp shoe. The model’s pared-down upper strap was designed to remove excess plastic, while the back strap was created to be entirely removable and 100% recyclable.

Unveiling the collaboration, STORY mfg. co-founder Saeed Al-Rubeyi shared, “This project was focused on our love of walking, nature and the outdoors. We came up with the brand on a walk together and whenever we need to think creatively, we go on a walk and hash things out. Walking is our meditation and as we pound the pavement, we pick our brains for inspiration – we forage for wisdom. These versions of the Club C and Beatnik are slubby-gummy-peacey and friendly, without being foolish – like us.”
