Sustainable fashion brand Everlane has released a new footwear collection made from leather scraps and recycled plastic.
Called ReLeather, the collection comprises two footwear styles in various colours. The recycled leather found in the ReLeather sneaker’s upper is said to require no new tanning or dyeing, with minimal water use and waste.
According to Everlane, roughly 30% of each hide is unusable in conventional virgin leather footwear production. That’s why Everlane chose to use keep the waste material out of landfills and utilize it to create low-impact sneakers.
