Heatworks at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show has unveiled a prototype of a kettle capable of instantaneously heating water while it’s being poured.

Called Duo Carafe, the battery-powered kettle will utilize patented Ohmic Array Technology to heat water instantly to (+/-) 1° F. Using graphite electrodes and electronic controls instead of traditional metal heating elements, electrical currents will be passed through the water being poured and by doing so, the increased energy state of the water molecules will generate kinetic energy so that it can be converted into heat. The use of graphite electrodes also eliminates the typical rust and scale buildup associated with metal heating.

Heatworks has stated that by adopting Duo Carafe, users will be able to “make a perfect pour-over coffee, reset the temp, brew a perfect cup of tea, and then pour yourself a cool glass of water, all without refilling or changing the water in the carafe”.

Also including a water filtration system, Duo Carafe is said to be 99 percent energy efficient.
