Spanish bridal fashion label Pronovias has just released its first-ever eco-friendly bridal collection.

Called #WeDoEco, the sustainably made collection of wedding dresses is part of Pronovias’ wider goal of elevating the bridal industry to a higher standard. Through #WeDoEco, Pronovias has pledged to make the world a better place by sustainably dressing women on one of the happiest days of their lives. They have affirmed their commitment to finding a solution to the harmful impact that the fashion industry as a whole, including the bridal industry, has on the planet.

For Pronovias, #WeDoEco is sustainable in three key ways: materials, design and manufacturing, and packaging. When it comes to materials, all fabrics, trims, buttons, and laces used in the collection were sustainably certified by at least one of the leading environmental agencies. These agencies include the Global Recycled Standard, the Forest Stewardship Council, and the Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex.

Regarding the design and manufacturing of the gowns in Pronovias’ #WeDoEco line, it was all done locally at the brand’s headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. All materials and accessories were sourced from nearby locations in Europe to ensure the shortest transportation times, and all suppliers were required to adhere to a strict Code of Conduct that guaranteed and protected the rights of their employees.

Finally, Pronovias is giving traditional bridal packaging an overhaul through #WeDoEco. All gowns sold in this collection will be packaged using liquid wood hangers, recycled paper, woven labels, water-based ink, and organic cotton garment bags.

The #WeDoEco line by Pronovias Group is currently divided into two parts. The first is called 360º Eco, and in this collection, all 15 gowns are sustainably made. The fabrics are eco-certified, the packaging is recyclable and minimal, and any beads or zippers that might adorn the dresses are made from recycled materials (the former from recycled glass and the latter from recycled PET bottles).

Meanwhile, the second part of the collection, which consists of 24 gowns, is referred to as Eco-Friendly. In this portion of the collection, each dress’s main fabric, such as crepe, is eco-certified, however, details made of lace or other materials are not sustainably certified. In addition, all gowns in the Eco-Friendly section of the collection are sustainably packaged, which includes being hung on liquid wood hangers in organic cotton cover bags, having swing tags made out of 100% recycled paper and 30% recycled fibres, and having woven labels made out of 100% recycled cloth.

Further, with the purchase of any dress in the #WeDoEco collection, the customer will receive a traceability sheet that outlines each and every step in the production of the dress, all of which can be verified to ensure transparency.
