In partnership with global textile solutions provider Unifi and its world-renowned REPREVE Our Ocean fibre, Primark recently added the REPREVE Our Ocean Jeans to their “Primark Cares” initiative.
Through “Primark Cares,” the UK company has released several garments and collections featuring recycled fibres and sustainably sourced materials.
To create REPREVE Our Ocean fibre, plastic bottles are collected along coastlines then ground up and melted down into pellets before being spun.
Primark’s REPREVE Our Ocean jeans are made with 33% REPREVE Our Ocean fibre, which is blended with 58% cotton, 7% viscose, and 2% elastane. Together, these materials provide a comfortable and stretchy pair of jeans.
“We are so excited to collaborate with a partner as trusted and recognised in its field as REPREVE for this, our latest denim launch,” says Lynne Walker, director of Primark Cares. “We know that working with new partners to increase our use of innovative recycled materials plays a big role in helping us to expand the choice of fashion and products under our Primark Cares label. This is all part of our goal to help our customers make more sustainable choices, at a price they can afford.”
Offered in two washes: mid blue and light blue, the REPREVE Our Ocean jeans have a classic high-waisted, skinny fit with a dropped hem detailing. As you would expect from the fast-fashion company, Primark’s REPREVE Our Ocean jeans retail for just 15 pounds.
Primark says that customers can expect the eco-friendly “Primark Cares” brand to be expanded, with several new releases promised in the months to come.
