EXTREME-TEX

Italian luxury fashion house Prada has introduced a new sustainable material as part of its technical Linea Rossa Fall/Winter 2020 collection.

Named EXTREME-TEX, the new three-layer, custom-made, and environmentally friendly fabric made its debut on a collection of high-performance apparel and utilitarian-driven activewear.

This new textile is made from recycled polyester and avoids the use of perfluorocarbon or PFC and other harmful compounds that are usually involved in the waterproofing process. Additionally, the textile’s outer shell is combined with a graphene-based polyurethane membrane that has antibacterial properties and can thermoregulate body temperature.

In Prada’s Linea Rossa Fall/Winter 2020 collection, EXTREME-TEX has been crafted into a range of seasonal-appropriate outerwear items, such as black and red puffer jackets, along with a lineup of technical, short-sleeved black shirts made for both men and women. Each item will be made available in two variants based on weight and volume and is emblazoned with Prada’s signature logo.
