PowerVision, a Beijing-based company specializing in AI and drone technology has launched its latest product called PowerEgg X.

Designed to be versatile, compact, cost-effective and intuitive, the camera drone can also be handheld or set up on a tripod. The shell is painted white and shaped like an egg, hence it’s name.

“‘Innovate the Future’ is our mission and innovation is in our DNA,” said Wally Zheng, founder and CEO of PowerVision. “Three years in development, PowerEgg X pulls together the technology consumers are seeking and puts it in a small, elegant egg shape.”

Powered by artificial intelligence, the PowerEgg X’s 4k/60fps HD camera is capable of facial recognition. In addition to accurately tracking a moving subject when recording a video, the camera can automatically compose the shot so that the subject is always in the centre of the frame.

“PowerVision’s deep learning is built on non-identifiable global big data, which supports facial recognition and automatic composition to adapt to the features of different people. It then delivers accurate, efficient, multi-angle, remote face recognition and subject lock-on,” explained PowerVision. “Facial recognition will become increasingly intelligent and accurate through ongoing deep learning and official firmware upgrading.”

For smooth and stabilized shots without any undesired shaking, the camera is fitted onto a three-axis gimbal.

Based on a database, the PowerEgg X can recognize gestures that will allow for hands-free control.

With a battery life of 3.5 hours and a rather short flight duration of 30 minutes, aerial photography can be captured in wind speeds of 29-38 km/h.

To reduce the possibility of crashing into objects such as trees and powerlines, the PowerEgg X is able to detect and automatically avoid obstacles that are 65 ft (19 m) away.

The PowerEgg X can also be fitted with accessories that enable it to take off and land on a body of water.
