As the holiday season approaches, many families are beginning to plan their traditional Christmas feasts. For some, this might mean the classic roast turkey, complete with all the trimmings. However, in recent years, there has been a notable shift in dietary choices, with an increasing number of people embracing plant-based diets.

To cater to this growing demand for cruelty-free and eco-conscious holiday meals, UK supermarket chain ASDA has introduced an innovative addition to their vegan product lineup: the OMV! Vegan No Turkey.

A Plant-Based Twist on Tradition

The OMV! Vegan No Turkey is not your typical holiday roast. Made from a carefully crafted blend of wheat, soya, and pea proteins, this plant-based turkey alternative aims to deliver a satisfying festive experience for vegans, vegetarians, and even those looking to cut back on their meat and dairy intake. This innovative creation has been developed to mimic the texture and appearance of a traditional turkey, ensuring that no one feels left out during the holiday season.

What sets the OMV! Vegan No Turkey apart is its attention to detail. It boasts a lean texture, and its “crown” is designed to appear bright white on the inside, replicating the look of a real turkey. In contrast, the “legs” are formulated to have a juicier texture, a darker colour, and a more intense flavour profile, just like a traditional roast turkey. The result is a plant-based alternative that promises to bring the essence of a holiday feast to the table without the need for animal products.

A Record-Breaking Vegan Offering

ASDA, known for its reputation as a budget-friendly supermarket, has been actively responding to the surge in demand for vegan and plant-based options. Last Christmas, the supermarket broke its own record by introducing its largest-ever vegan and Free From offering, featuring a variety of plant-based products. Among these, there were vegan breaded brie and a vegan turkey crown, offering customers a glimpse of the cruelty-free holiday possibilities.

This year, however, marks a new milestone for ASDA as they present the OMV! Vegan No Turkey, a complete plant-based turkey. It’s a groundbreaking addition to their extensive vegan product range, designed to cater to the diverse preferences of their customers.

Affordable and Inclusive Choices

With the ongoing challenges of the cost of living crisis, many families are looking for affordable yet festive meal options. The OMV! Vegan No Turkey is set to hit shelves on December 14th at just £6, making it a cost-conscious choice for holiday celebrations. This not only reflects ASDA’s commitment to making vegan options accessible but also underscores the importance of inclusive and budget-friendly choices for all during the holiday season.

In addition to the OMV! Vegan No Turkey, ASDA is also introducing other exciting vegan Christmas products, including an oyster and porcini mushroom wellington as an alternative main course, mushroom pigs wrapped in smoky aubergine bacon as sides, and delectable desserts like a strawberry trifle and crumble-topped vegan mince pies.
