Instead of sourcing virgin materials for their dyes, material science company PANGAIA has released a capsule with dyes made from textile waste.

Called Re-Color, the capsule is made up of hoodies, t-shirts, pants, and shorts that are all dyed using Recycrom, a technology developed by Italian textile chemical company Officina+39 that enables the transformation of textile waste into coloured powder dyestuffs.

According to PANGAIA, dyeing is responsible for the highest environmental footprint during their production chain. As such, they have previously explored using botanical and bacteria-based dyes.

The five colours available in the Re-Color capsule are Coral Pink, Apricot Orange, Banana Yellow, Aloe Green and Sky Blue.
