Sustainable fashion brand PANGAIA has announced the launch of a new eco-friendly collection.
Set to be released on June 29, The Gym Collection features the latest science and technology, allowing PANGAIA to create activewear pieces out of bio-engineered fabrics.
Taking their sustainability mission one step further, PANGAIA incorporated several new materials and treatments into this collection, ones they have never used before but that are specifically suited to activewear.
Roica V550 is one such fabric, which is a stretch yarn that can be degraded by microorganisms in the span of five years. PANGAIA also introduced peppermint plant-derived PPRMNT, a bio-based odour control finish with antimicrobial properties that ensures durability and freshness. Finally, another new treatment incorporated into the activewear line was bioWick, a bio-carbon and wicking treatment made from microalgae that gives the fabric moisture-wicking properties so it can absorb sweat from the skin.
All fabric used in the Gym Collection was treated with plant-based, moisture-absorbing technology and the brand’s patented PPRMNT oil, both of which served to minimize water and energy consumption during the production process.
One standout item in the PANGAIA Gym Collection is a one-piece unitard made of seaweed, eucalyptus, bio-based nylon, and a responsible stretch fibre.
Other items in PANGAIA’s first-ever activewear collection include sweatpants, bike shorts, crop tops, hoodies, and T-shirts.
As with all PANGAIA lines, the Gym Collection will come in a wide range of colourful, monochromatic hues, including lilac, pink, green, black, grey, and navy blue. Plus, each item features visible black text indicating what each fabric is made of and how it was treated.
