Sustainable fashion brand PANGAIA has partnered with artist and designer Es Devlin to create a capsule aimed at combatting climate change.

Devlin is renowned for her stage design and large-scale installations. One of Devlin’s most recent works entitled CONFERENCE OF THE TREES for COP26 at the New York Times Climate Hub saw 197 trees, one for each of the 197 attending countries, being used to create an immersive forest setting. The trees were replanted in a new public garden.

“Her recent series of temporary forests draws on the Shakespearean tradition of the forest as a place of transformation in which characters enter in one state of mind and emerge having shifted their point of view,” says PANGAIA. “Together we share a passion for trees, the planet, and creating a better future for tomorrow.”

The PANGAIA x Es Devlin capsule comprises four pieces that feature Devlin’s signature colour of orange. The hoodie and track pants are made from a recycled and organic cotton mix. The shorts and T-shirt are made from organic cotton.

“Devlin has been a huge supporter of PANGAIA from the get go wearing our clothes ‘all day, every day’. However, our collaboration wasn’t just born out of the mutual love and appreciation for the other’s work. It was inspired by creativity, a love of art and the determination to take action against climate change,” adds PANGAIA.

All proceeds from the capsule are being donated to Instituto Terra, an NGO based in Brazil that is dedicated to environmental restoration and sustainable rural development.
