Nike is bringing sustainability to the fore once again with the launch of its latest round of eco-friendly sneakers.

The newly-announced collection features sneakers made from recycled materials, and is part of Nike’s Move to Zero, an initiative by the global company to move towards zero carbon and zero waste by changing all aspects of its supply chain, including material sourcing, processing, and manufacturing.

One of the new styles being released as part of Nike’s Move to Zero initiative is the Air VaporMax 2021, which the brand says is their most sustainable sneaker yet. The shoe is made from 75% recycled materials.

Other styles set to launch include the Air Max Pre-Day, which is made up of 20% recycled content, the Nike Crater Impact, featuring 25% recycled materials, and new versions of the Cosmic Unity, Nike Victoria G Lite, and Air Zoom SuperRep 2 Next Nature, all of which feature a certain degree of reused materials.

What recycled materials is Nike using in these sneakers, you might be wondering? According to the brand, they sought to repurpose existing materials, such as yarn, textiles, and plastic. Materials the brand ended up using included recycled polyester sourced from plastic bottles, recycled cotton, certified organic cotton, and recycled nylon sourced from old fishing nets and carpets.

Nike also announced the launch of the Plant Cork Pack, which is a collection of nine sneaker styles including the Blazer, Air Force 1, and Daybreak, with each featuring 9% recycled cork.

The sneakers in the Move to Zero collection will be released throughout the season, both online on Nike’s website and in stores.
