Ace of Air

The latest vegan and cruelty-free beauty brand to hit the market is Ace of Air. What sets them apart from all the other eco-conscious brands currently out there is its zero-waste initiative, which involves “rentable” packaging.

According to its founders (model Petra Nemcova amongst them), Ace of Air is the first and only beauty and wellness brand designed to be entirely circular and fully zero-waste, taking full responsibility for the complete lifecycle of its refilled packaging.

“In the fall of 2017, we began creating the business of our dreams — an uplifting, inclusive brand for women and men designed to have a positive impact on people and our planet with powerfully nourishing skincare and supplement products,” said Stahl, CEO & co-founder of Ace of Air. “We did this, not because we thought the world needs another beauty and wellness brand. It doesn’t. We did this because our planet needs a beauty and wellness brand that fundamentally changes what and how we consume.”

To set this new standard in the industry, Ace of Air is founded upon a Buy the Product & Borrow the Package model. Customers who purchase any item from Ace of Air’s gender-neutral and eco-friendly lineup will receive them in a Boomerang Box.

When all products have been used up, customers simply just fill up the Boomerang Box with the empty containers and return it to Ace of Air. This circular, waste-free model aims to kick out single-use plastics to ensure no packaging ends up in the ocean or landfills.

The brand’s product packaging is made of stainless steel, food-grade ceramic, and is designed to be re-used up to 100 times. Other packaging elements, which are normally made from plastic or silicone, are replaced with fair-trade rubber.

When the product packaging becomes too damaged to circulate anymore, Ace of Air will recycle the stainless steel along with the rubber. Additionally, the Boomerang Box, made of 100% post-consumer recycled polypropylene (30% of which is reclaimed ocean waste), will get melted down when it can no longer be used. In addition, Ace of Air has teamed up with UPS to participate in its carbon-neutral program, which incorporates carbon-neutral shipping.

Ace of Air’s inaugural lineup comprises skincare and supplement products including two serums, Illuminate Me Sunrise Serum and Restore Me Space Age Serum; two moisturizers, Illuminate Me Halo Moisturizer and Restore Me Bounce Back Moisturizer; and four supplements catered to support gut health, promote firmer skin, and to provide a boost of Omega fatty acids.

The Certified B Corp brand’s formulations are also noteworthy. Wild-harvested, fair-trade, and sustainability-sourced ingredients are used to create the products, while parabens, silicones, sulfates, formaldehyde, mineral oil, petroleum, phthalates, and allergens such as gluten, wheat, artificial binders, and fillers have been excluded. Additionally, the label doesn’t use any animal products or testing.

“Our products are expertly formulated at the intersection of herbalist wisdom and modern science, focusing on products that work from the inside out, and are deeply holistic on every level,” said Nemcova, chief inspiration cfficer & co-founder of Ace of Air. “We work with a brilliant group of experts including dermatologists, herbalists, naturopaths, nutritionists, natural pharmacists, and environmentalists to formulate products that uplift our bodies, as well as people and planet, through the entire value chain.”

Ace of Air has also implemented a points system where consumers can donate their points to three charities: Ocean Conservancy, Peconic Land Trust, and 5 Gyres.
