British luxury fashion brand Mulberry is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the relaunch of one of their most iconic bags – the Alexa.
Named after fashion designer Alexa Chung, the Alexa is a cross-body satchel that first launched in 2010 and quickly became coveted by fashionistas everywhere. (In fact, the bag is so iconic that the Victoria & Albert Museum in London is hosting an upcoming exhibition entitled Bags: Inside Out, in which the original Alexa bag from Chung’s private collection will be on display.)
For those who were never able to purchase the original Alexa, or perhaps for those who did but are looking for an upgrade, look no further than the 2020 iteration.
Mulberry’s Alexa bag has been reborn to reflect the brand’s commitment to the environment. “Updated for modern lifestyles,” the new Alexa is the product of responsible innovation, unlike its predecessor.
While the new bag is still made out of leather, a staple of the fashion house, the leather used is sourced from a gold standard, environmentally accredited leather tannery. Specifically, a tannery in Germany, that is a member of the Leather Working Group, an organization dedicated to promoting the most eco-friendly practices throughout the entire leather supply chain. Additionally, the bags were manufactured by Mulberry’s craftspeople in carbon-neutral factories located in Somerset, United Kingdom.
The Alexa is currently available on Mulberry’s website in a classic, mini, and oversized iteration. Prices range from £895 for the mini to £1,295 for the oversized. Each style is available in a wide range of fall hues, including Antique Gold, Black Heavy Grain, Charcoal, Deep Amber, Chalk, Chestnut, and forest Green, as well as a few fun neon colours like Neon Pink and Neon Yellow.
