Created by designer Moreno Ratti, sponge is a collection of planters that explores the use of marble and mineral salts for the nourishment of plants.

The sponge collection is composed of three planters of varying diameters ranging from 10 to 22 cm (3.9 to 8.6 in). Each planter incudes a travertine marble top with a glass base.

To use sponge, water is first poured into the glass base. The travertine marble with a plant inside is then placed on top of the base.

In doing so, the travertine marble soaks the water in the glass base and the mineral salts present in the holes of the marble are transported with the water to the plant.
