Mercedes-Benz at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show has unveiled an all-electric premium minivan called Concept EQV that is set to enter series production in the near future.

“Mercedes-Benz Vans is consistently advancing the electrification of its product portfolio,” said Wilfried Porth, member of the board of management of Daimler AG; human resources and director of labor relations, Mercedes-Benz Vans. “With the Concept EQV, we are now taking the next step.”

“The concept offers all of the brand-typical attributes familiar from this segment which Mercedes-Benz customers have come to know, appreciate and also expect,” explained Porth. “As a family companion, a leisure-time adventurer or a shuttle vehicle with lounge ambience, the combination of these characteristics with a battery-electric drive mean the Concept EQV is a concept car with a future. And so we’re particularly excited that we will soon be able to offer a series-production model on the basis of this concept.”

Featuring a 100 kWh battery pack and a 150 kW compact electric drivetrain (eATS) located on the front axle, the Concept EQV is said to have a maximum range of roughly 400 kilometres (249 miles). Charging the Concept EQV using a wallbox or a household plug socket, Mercedes-Benz says that a rapid charging function can be used for a range of 100 kilometres in 15 minutes.

Able to seat a total of 8 people, the Concept EQV’s interior is spacious, elegant, and avant-garde.

“The vehicle also offers the highest levels of interior comfort and maximum functionality, through features such as its versatile seating configurations,” said Mercedes-Benz.

“By installing individual seats or banks of seats, the six-seat concept vehicle can be reconfigured to offer seven or even eight seats. This means the Concept EQV can cover a wide range of uses. In private use, families or those who enjoy sporting activities benefit from the high degree of functionality and variability. In up-market people moving, the vehicle offers a compelling range of equipment and appointments as well as an extremely comfortable ride.”
