Created by artists Sun Yuan and Peng Yu, Dear is a kinetic artwork that consists of a white silicon chair fitted with a rubber hose that violently whips.

Exhibited at Venice Biennale 2019, the artwork is presented in the Venetian Arsenal.

Powered by high-pressure air, the rubber hose repeatedly whips the plexiglass barrier. While marks are made on the plexiglass, the chair based on the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. is left unscratched.
