Spanish fashion retailer Mango recently unveiled their new store concept.

Taking inspiration from Mediterranean culture and style, as well as changing consumer patterns, Mango’s new stores will have sustainability and energy efficiency at the fore.

For example, stores will feature energy-saving lights and temperature control, in addition to incorporating natural paint colours and artisanal raw materials. Paint hues are meant to represent both nature and the Mediterranean landscape specifically, which is why warm, neutral tones were chosen. Further, the raw materials that will be featured in Mango’s new locations include ceramic, cement, marble, wood, leather, and esparto grass.

Mango also announced that their newly opened stores would continue the brand’s recycling efforts through their partnership with Moda re-, which collects used clothing and footwear that would otherwise be thrown away.

Other changes to Mango’s new, environmentally-minded brick and mortar locations include an expanded click & collect area, to facilitate the growth of this method of shopping, as well as a concierge station, larger fitting rooms, and cash desks on all floors of the stores. There will also be a new area of the store dedicated to showcasing exclusive online collections, and the staff will be able to make use of a newly launched in-store analytic technology that supplies real-time data about garment availability.

The first Mango store with its new sustainable design is set to open in Düsseldorf, Germany this March.
