Levi Strauss & Co., otherwise known as Levi’s, has expanded their partnership with American big-box retailer Target to include a new, limited edition homeware line.
This expansion makes Levi’s the next collaborator to be chosen for Target’s design partnership program. They will be following in the footsteps of global fashion designers ranging from Jason Wu and Marc Jacobs to Diane von Furstenberg and Isaac Mizrahi.
Unlike some of the other designers who have created exclusive collections for Target, Levi’s already has a long-standing relationship with the company. In fact, the San Francisco-based denim brand has worked with Target for over ten years, owing to their Denizen value brand that Target sells. Further, Levi’s Red Tab collection has been sold in select Target stores since 2019.
“Strategic partnerships like our work with Levi’s have long been a key part of Target’s success, allowing us to offer our guests the very best national brands alongside our incredible assortment of owned brands,” says Jill Sando, chief merchandising officer at Target. “Through this partnership, we’re able to offer a collection of items guests can’t find anywhere else, with pieces that exemplify the values and design prowess of both the Target and Levi’s brands.”
This new collaboration between Levi’s and Target marks the first time that the denim brand will be creating a homeware collection. There are only a few pieces of apparel, suitable for men, women, and children, in the entire line – a trucker jacket and some sleepwear. There will also be accessories and pet apparel included in the collection. The rest will be made up of over 100 items ranging from quilts and pillows to barware and ceramics.
“We’re thrilled to be introducing our one-of-a-kind home collection with Target,” says Karyn Hillman, chief product officer, Levi’s. “We immediately connected on our mutual passion for purposeful and timeless design, with sustainability and quality at the core of everything we do. We dialed up the best elements of our two iconic brands and discovered fresh new ways to create truly unique products to be enjoyed for years to come.”
As with most Levi’s collections, sustainability is at the fore. The glassware in the collection is made from recycled glass, while several other pieces have certifications from Fair Trade USA, GOODWEAVE, and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
In addition, the materials used to build the collection were chosen for their durability and all designs were intended to be timeless. These are both aspects of the new collection which Levi’s hopes will inspire consumers to use the pieces for years to come.
Prices for the collection will range from $3 to $150 USD. The Levi’s x Target limited edition homeware collection is set to launch online and in stores on February 28.
