Supermodel Kendall Jenner is the most recent celebrity to launch an alcohol brand. Called 818, Kendall’s tequila company stands out from the rest due to the fact that they are on a sustainable mission.

818 aims to offer an eco-friendly product as well as give back to the community of Jalisco, Mexico. One of the ways the company plans to give back is through housing by supplying bricks to create homes. The plan is to use the leftover agave fibres from the distillation process to create sustainable bricks.

According to 818, their glass supplier champions the industry-wide transition to natural gas energy sources. In addition, the materials used to create the Forest Stewardship Council certified labels, corks and boxes are sourced from sustainably managed forests. 818’s ultimate goal is to become a B Corp company and has partnered with Impact Growth Partners, a women-owned and operated B Corp consulting firm in order to achieve this.

818 is also striving towards gender neutrality. Kendall is making it known that women can be leaders and pioneers in the tequila business just as much as men can. The spirits world is a mainly male-dominated domain, and 818 is changing the perception of power and leadership when it comes to gender in the business.
