Made from water and food waste, Veles is a cruelty-free, all-purpose household cleaner that serves as a sustainable solution for those wanting to reduce their impact on the environment.

Ambrosia, the company behind Veles, is dedicated to sustainability. Led by founders Amanda Weeks and Brett Van Aalsburg, Ambrosia aimed to simplify the supply chain and stop the cycle of sending food waste to landfills. After years of research and educating investors, Ambrosia successfully raised over $4 million to bring Veles to life.

Veles’ active ingredients (acetic acid, lactic acid, and alcohol) are sourced from food waste. Meanwhile, just 3 percent of the cleaner consists of essential oils and a non-petroleum-based fragrance stabilizer. The fragrance is a mix of low-impact essential oils: lavender, peppermint, and bergamot.

Ambrosia wants Veles to remain “resource negative.” In other words, they aim to use renewable or waste materials rather than raw materials. According to Ambrosia, treating waste as a resource reduces the overconsumption of resources and greenhouse gas emissions. “A double negative, if you will.”

A bottle of Veles lasts around three months. Once depleted, customers can order a refill (packaged in a 32 oz amber glass bottle) so that they can reuse their starter aluminum bottle endlessly.

Although Veles is currently sold out, you can sign up for the waitlist on their website.
