Only a month ago, Numcha was a completely unknown musician. However, with the recent release of the single “Keep cold” with an accompanying music video, Numcha had quickly established herself with a growing fanbase.

Setting Mind interview Numcha to learn more about her life, music career and “Keep cold”.

Setting Mind: How did you get into music?

Numcha: Flashing back to when I was just a little girl, one of the sweetest memories that I can first recall was my mom and myself singing and dancing in our living room. That’s practically our hobby haha! My mom has such huge influences on me and I’ve grown my interest in music since then.

In high school, I even started a band with a couple of my friends. We recorded some short cover videos just for fun and I was very happy when I got awesome feedback! As time passed by, my passion for music grew bigger and bigger. Then, I realized I had to take this seriously. As a result, I decided to acquire a bachelor’s degree from the college of music at Mahidol University. During college years, there are both good and tough times but I’m glad I followed my heart anyway. So, I guess that’s how I got into music. I followed my love and passion.

What is your creative process?

For all my songs, Firstly, they were inspired by my actual feelings and past experiences. You can’t just write a song without feeling anything right? Next, I start strumming the guitar and playing a chord tone randomly getting along with my mood and tone. My melodies and lyrics come up at the same time but it’s mostly not usable ones.

So, I just have to play it on and on until it feels right to me. When the demo is done. I let my friends hear it and we start recording afterwards. We put more creative stuff like licks that fit in with my songs. So, it takes a lot of time for this part. However, all of my musicians did a perfect job! Bravo!!

What was your inspiration for the song “Keep cold”? What is the message?

At that moment, I can’t deny that I’ve got a crush on someone. LOL. And yup! The messages came up naturally through how I felt. Just wanna tell him through my song.

What was the process of shooting the music video for “Keep cold” like?

If you’ve already seen my music video, you can tell that some elements give you a little Japanese vibe. This is because while I was writing this song, the character of a Japanese girl popped up in my head suddenly.

Before the music video creation, I thought about a friend who is working as a music video director, Kero. He has been texting me how much he loves my song, “Keep cold”, a long time ago since I released it as a demo version. So, I thought it’s gonna be awesome creating my very first project with the one who sees the good in me since day 1.

After that, I contacted him and we started to discuss it. And yeah, I have to say I was right about him. Kero can come up with anything that I want! He stepped it up by adding more interesting stuff in my music video like the canoe scenes. He accidentally discovered this perfect sight while he was surveying the area. Therefore, he started writing more details for those scenes and I think that scene has become a highlight of my masterpiece!! There was a little struggle due to a little rain but with our professional team and actors, everything went well on the shooting day. I was having a very good time working with them. Cheers to our team!

Any messages for your fans?

I don’t really know what to say hahaha I just want to say thanks to you all!  The feedback has been overwhelming and blew way beyond my expectations. All of your kind words are so meaningful, they light me up every morning! Please support and stay tuned for more upcoming pieces. I promise I will keep it up and put all my souls creating my new babies!! Cross my heart! have a good day, go listen to Keep cold now!
