Using the ili is easy. While simultaneously pressing a button and speaking English into the ili, the spoken words are then translated to the choices of Japanese, Mandarin, and Spanish in a matter of seconds. The option to translate Japanese and Mandarin into English is also supported. Requiring no WIFi connection to translate, ili translator is capable of being used virtually anywhere. The ili translator also has a battery life that lasts 3-5 days on a full charge.
Conceived by Takuro Yoshida, the Founder & CEO of Logbar, ili translator is said to have been developed due to the numerous situations in which Yoshida found himself unable to enjoy the wonders of travelling due to his poor language skills. Always dreaming of breaking the language barrier, a mobile translation app was developed but it had required an internet connection in order to function properly, a fatal flaw in the design. Learning from his mistakes, Yoshida began development for an all in one device that would be capable of instantaneous translation without having to connect to the internet. Utilizing an all in one processor to convert speech to text from a database to produce an optimized, seamless translation, the ili translator was created.
Unfortunately, the translator has its limitations where due to the complexity of languages, the ili can only translate simple questions and is unable to translate slang.
