H&M Group and Alight Energy have teamed up to bolster renewable energy infrastructure in Sweden with the construction of three new solar parks. These projects mark a significant step towards a more sustainable future, highlighting the commitment of both companies to combat climate change.
The solar parks, located in Blekinge, Södermanland, and Halland, will collectively generate 24 GWh of clean electricity annually. This renewable energy output will power over 4,800 homes, contributing to Sweden’s transition towards a greener energy landscape.
Through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), H&M Group solidifies its commitment to sourcing renewable electricity, aligning with its goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. The partnership with Alight underscores the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable innovation.
With construction already underway in Blekinge and plans set for the other locations, these projects are on track to be operational by early 2025. Beyond environmental benefits, the initiative fosters economic growth and community resilience in Sweden.
Ulrika Leverenz, Head of Green Investment at H&M Group, emphasizes the role of renewable energy in their sustainability roadmap, stating, “Renewable energy is a cornerstone of our efforts to reduce emissions.” The partnership with Alight signifies a commitment to realizing these sustainability goals.
