In collaboration with energy drink company Red Bull, eco-friendly skincare company Haeckels has created an edible cup made from bio-material.

According to Haeckels, roughly one hundred million single-use plastic cups are used annually at festivals worldwide. As such, the bio-material-based alternative was developed to reduce the staggering amount of waste.

Made from spirulina, ginger and blueberry, the cup when ingested is said to have a positive impact on energy, mood and digestion. Alternatively, the cup can also be composted.
“This partnership celebrates a combined force of an innovative attitude that looks to explore potential future pathways for brands that embrace sustainability as part of a creative product experience, from making noise from the inside to delivering sustainable solutions to a global audience,” says Haeckels.
“Doing unexpected things with unexpected people continually drives us forward; you can’t make noise from the outside,” adds the skincare company. “Whilst we remain a skincare company, we’re always looking for smaller ways to make a bigger difference.”

From 25th-28th August, attendees of the We Out Here Festival in Cambridgeshire will be able to try the bio-based cup at Red Bull’s Haeckels Lab Bar.
