Designed by CANOMA, Go Today Shaire Salon is a hair salon located in Tokyo, Japan.

Designated as a coworking space for those who lack access to their own salon, freelance beauticians are able to book shampoo stations and booths at a relatively low cost.

“Today, as the sharing economy is becoming normalized and a variety of different ways of working are being created, a lifestyle that is less oriented around ownership is also gradually becoming more common,” said CANOMA architect Shinsuke Yokoyama.

“For freelance beauticians, not owning your own shop has many benefits, such as more financial freedom, an increase in free time, and the ability to choose to work at your own discretion. However, it also means that you must acquire your own clients,” explained Yokoyama.

Composed of materials such as wood, stone, and opaque glass, the interior is minimalistic, spacious and open while simultaneously private.

Through repeatedly examining the texture of our materials and the shape, color, and size of the elements we used, and by providing the space with these aspects, we have consciously designed this salon as a place that complements the advantageous characteristics of being a freelancer,” added Yokoyama.
